No one "approves" new members. Anyone can register as a member. We have had a huge influx of illegitimate members lately, and there is really no way to prevent it without making registration much more difficult for legitimate members. Dr. Young does not want to make those changes.

I can certainly appreciate not wanting to be spammed and I too want to comply. However, I was banned and it wasn't clear to me as to why or what I had done wrong. After reading this thread I think I get it.

My suggestion is that you should indicate what is not acceptable in the forum rules that come up when someone clicks on the register link. You could also put something in the confirmation email which gets sent back to the user that registered.

You should also be specific as to what is considered commercial and what isn't. The site I had provided a link to in my homepage was my blog. Granted there was Google AdSense on the site but, my blog posts are only informational and have to do with straight catheters.

At any rate, I understand and just think it may help to at least put in the forum rules what is and isn't allowed.

Cheers!

You were banned because your very first (and only) post was simply a link to your "blog" which is mostly advertisements for catheters and catheter companies.

The lack of a profile that indicates why you are coming to our forums also makes this type of post highly suspicious, esp. with the huge influx of illegitimate "members" who have been coming here lately (up to 1000 new spam posters daily).

You are welcome to our forums, but please do not post commercial links. Blogs whose main purpose is commercial are included in banned links.

You can include a signature URL to your personal website or blog, but not to a commercial website such as your business or a business you are working for or with, or to sites such as porn sites, etc.

Again, having a complete profile helps to identify you as a legitimate member vs. a spammer or troll.

Commercialism and Care Cure Forums

So I am confused here:

Firstly I would like to say great site and very informative. It will surely help many people. Honestly - well done.

However with the commercial issues that this site has raised recently, for example not allowing links to commercial sites: why is this one allowed on here? Jonny, as you mentioned this site may help you not to become desperately poor in the future. Please don't get me wrong, I think your site is a great asset to this forum, but it is commercial, as you link to an associate account in Amazon where you gain royalties with the associate name of many0cf-20. The link can be provided, but it would be commercial and may get me banned. Like you, I have a site (I am not going to post the link here as I do not want to offend or get banned).

As mentioned twice before and I am going to repeat it to get my message across, I think your site is great, but when I put up a post recently I was initially banned for 2 years due to what was perceived by the moderators of this page as spam (which it was not). I had to explain a lot to get my access back to Wise Young.

Wise told me that I should not have been banned, but I am a little confused now with regards to the rules. I truly believe that commercial sites which offer great service to the clients / readers of this forum and / or sites which are healthcare related should be allowed on here, as they are relevant. i just wish the rule was followed fairly.

If any of the moderators on here could comment for everyone to know clearly what is and is not OK that would be a great help.

Thanks again Jonny for the great site and here's for more of the same quality and relevant content.

the next is a hilarious smart alec blog by an internet spammer trying to make money on the internet via nefarious methods.

I hope you enjoy them!
