I must say that I am quite happy with my corpus 500 so far. However, I think permobil has really let themselves down a little when it comes to some of the accessories. I bought the back clips so that I should carry a bag, the clips are just cheap tacky rubbish that fell to pieces under vibration, and at £17 you would expect something really decent, after all a set of decent carabiners doesn't cost much more than a couple of quid.
Anyway, I will certainly make notes of what you have said and pass it on to the suppliers of my chair when I speak to them later on |

ICS Controll pannel probem on Permobil?
I also have permobil, and yesterday the ICS Controll pannel stopped working, the chair was on but the Controll Panela green lights all turned off, and the controll panel buttens would only beep, but not actually controll any functions - so I can only drive around,a nd not use any raise / elevatior / leg lift functions.
Does anyone know ehat this problem is? - is it some kind of fault with the R-Net / controll pannel, or electronics? |

My wife has a lightly used Permobile C400, last night we turned it on and went through all the functions; tilt, elevating seat, lights, etc. Suddenly the power bar started flashing - all the functions like leg rests, elevating seat, etc. kept working but chair would not move. I asked my wife to read through manual and asked how to disengage motors in case we had to push it. She read aloud the instructions for disengaging motors by moving 2 levers by r leg rest. The manual stated the power bar would flash if these were even slightly disengaged. I pushed down on the 1st lever and the power bar stopped flashing, went back to solid lights and the chair was again functional. Somehow one of the levers just got slightly out of position causing the problem. We will probably tape this lever into position so that it doesn't happen again.

It sounds like there may be a disconnect or other problem with the seat wiring.

Hi SCIfor55yrs., is your reply "It sounds like there may be a disconnect or other problem with the seat wiring"
In answer to my Question: "ICS Controll pannel probem on Permobil? I have been supremely disappointed with the quality of PerMobil. I have had my chair approximately 1 1/2 years, I am on joystick number 3 ICS control module number 3 battery set number 2 elevate actuator number 2, tilt actuator and mechanism number 2, and this morning, I am getting ICS legs error 209a. I had the 3rd ICS controller module replaced last week, and now the leg extensions do not work. the best part is I'm leaving for Florida tomorrow and I'm going to a mobility conference and you'll never guess who the star of the show is.... Permobil. I called my local "durable" medical equipment provider, their tech is out today and they would still have to order parts. when my chair was built, I don't think anybody used Loctite as the entire backrest assembly was being held on by one bolt, everything else had fallen off. does anybody know about a lemon law process that I can try and use to get a new chair? this is absolutely ridiculous.

I am not aware of a lemon law for medical devices but you should report this to the FDA here:
http://www.fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch/H...rt/default.htm Hopefully by reporting these serious issues we can get the quality control improved. |

Are these still ongoing issues? I am looking to replace my chair and I am about to eliminate Permobil from my shopping list.

Everything from electronics to mechanical My chair crapped out 4 day's ago I know they do not make them like the old day's my 1996 leisure lift is still going strong thank God I didnt get rid of my ol favorite ... So now I have to wait supposedly 5 weeks or so until the red tape and paperwork shuffling get's sorted out big nuisance just to fix something simple ... Now everyone is outsourcing and skimping
