Zack Weinstein, quad actor

Are you familiar with Zack Weinstein? He's an actor with a C6 spinal cord injury who was on Glee in 2008 (in the "Wheels" episode). That's his main claim to fame, but he's been trying to get bigger roles in Hollywood since.

He was on Criminal Minds and NCIS the past couple of years, usually playing some kind of character who was in an accident. Did you catch him on either of these shows? How do he do??

When he was hurt in 2005 he was still a student at Skidmore college. One of his friends at the time made a 10 minute documentary about Zack's injury. VERY haunting. You can watch here: http://www.spinalpedia.com/blog/2012...ch-weinstein/#

He was in a different episode on glee. Wheels was about Artie and the school refusing to fund a bus with a wheelchair lift. He was in an episode later (playing a higher quad) where Rachel loses her voice and thinks her life is over. Finn takes her to meet his friend, who was paralyzed playing football I believe. Zack did great, but honestly the writing there was poor. The stereotypical 'inspiring cripple' piece. I believe Zack tried out for Artie but didn't get the part. I see why, Artie is a geek and Zack does look more the football hero type. I remember him in NCIS too, I didn't know at the time he was a real wheelchair user. I'm always glad to see working disabled actors. Like Robert David Hall.

(yes, I'm a 'gleek')

I'm a Criminal Minds freak. There have been a few paras as minor parts but the only quad, and he never left his bed, was in the episode with his mentally retarded brother invloving hogs. Was that Zack? Is there an episode I managed to miss?

Thanks KLD. I've gotten pretty good at catching the roll ons but totally missed him in that episode of CM and he scored a speaking part and it was on again just the other day. Not into Glee but I'll have to find the NCIS episode. Must have been this last year because of moving I missed a lot of my fav shows.

I will go through CM's site and try and find out who they had play the mad scientist high quad that talked his mildly to moderately retarded brother through tests to heal him with stem cells. The writers had most the quad stuff down but failed miserably on the wide range of what his brother should have been able to do. And Zack is much better looking than the acter in the hog episode.

It was a really short scene on NCIS, you could probably find the clip on youtube. He played the injured soldier brother of another soldier who was missing I believe. Tony and Ziva came to talk to him while he was doing physical therapy. That was it unfortunately.

I know Zach well and he did not try out for the role of Artie. My nickname for him is Yoda because he is insightful and wise beyond his years. Nice guy, great family. I have no doubt he will continue to break barriers.
