Why slots for ATMs and hotels need the entire card for a read is beyond me. Can't they make it so a card can have a small hole drilled in it for a loop to go through it for pulling it out after we're done? With hotel cards a chair or loop would make it much easier for those of us with quad paws or a bit better to not need employee help so often. I drop mine more often removing them than not being able to insert the things.

you can do that as long as you don't drill out the magnetic strip it needs to read the card.

Sue, you're right as usual. Why don't they just have swipe slots as opposed to pulling in the entire card? All they need to do is read the mag strip and they have all the info needed to complete the transaction. I'll file an ADA complaint and I'm sure it will be addressed by 2028!

Go for it, Robin! Hotel cards read, normally, the short side of the card so plenty of room to use a hole punch and add a coil loop for us. ATMs, not sure which side they read but a center small hole at one of the short ends should be possible so we can grab the damn things before they set sucked in. Or if it is easier for them make new ATMs with a disabled code addition for those who apply. There should be no problem with a machine being recalibrated to not destroy the card for 5 minutes after it gets sucked in. That is time for most of us to push an access button and then enter a code that would spit our cards back out. Maybe try a letter to the American Banking Association before the DOJ?

Most of he banks around here use the same type of card reader that gas pumps do, meaning that it does not go inside the machine and is never out of your hand.

Full function of my hands here and even I have to agree! They don't stick back out much at all and it *is* difficult to grip them.
