Has anyone received a C500 Corpus lately?
I'm trying to get a new chair, the C500 Corpus 3G, and my insurance is really fighting it. I was told there are different Classes, C500 is Class 4 and a C300 is a Class 3. They told me a Class 4 would be hard to get. The reason I want the C500 is because I'm a tall guy and I like to feel stable in my chair, and the base on the C500 seems more comparable to my current Permobil Chairman. Plus I also go outdoors a lot and I've heard the C500 a tougher chair and can handle the outdoors better. But insurance doesn't seem to care about any of that. They are only interested in what my needs are in my home. So has anyone been able to get one? What were the needs you gave for why you needed the C500?
Thanks |

We are in the process too. Were told the same thing, its been 5 weeks so far and not a word from our insurance. Thankfully we were able to purchase a used C300 to use in the mean time.

I received a denial letter after about 4-5 weeks. Already sent an appeal but everything had already been covered in the first letter. Like I said they only seem to care about in home needs, which is ridiculous. |

If you are a tall male, say >73", odds are that the C300's STF height will be too low. I like the C300 a lot, but find I am limited in the types of cushions I can prescribe when the user is over 6" foot tall. A cushion like a Hybrid Elite becomes essential. I'll frequently suggest the C500, but where I work, common sense justifications are possible. Your insurance may still not care.

I honestly don't remember, we talked about several things, such as he is 6'1" tall, the locking system in the van we have now won't work with the lower C300, the added height of the c500 would make transfering easier, he's home alone alot the dependability/durabilty of the C500 is better, etc. etc. DME said it may not go thru and we would have to appeal but if we were up for the fight then he would do all in his power to help us out. Well, we are gonna wait it out cause he has a dependable chair, the C300, we bought used. It is harder to transfer from and it won't fit in the van with the locking mechanism we have in the floor but its still a good chair. Just waiting on that first denial letter now.
