Uncalled for.

This is absolutely and totally uncalled for. Use a shower commode chair with a bucket below. So degrading.

I just found out the Cleveland VA has a P.I.E. Machine. Next trip should be a lot different.

With the P.I.E. machine do you still need to drink golygtely or something like it?

I feel your pain my friend.

When I had one done and found out what prep work was I simply told the doc that there was no way I was going through that. We agreed to evacuate things one day prior to the scope.

That morning I brought in a small flat screen TV in to the bathroom, hooked up my PS3 and started the long day ahead, I spent 9 hours on the bowl. By far one of the most brutal experiences of my disability life....the worse was getting C-Diff after a round of meds

That experience drained the life out of me...it was like being run over twice by a truck.

I got lucky with a young new nurse during my first with a 23 hour stay. My GI doc prescribed 5 bottles of mag citrate and an IV to keep my electrolytes normal and my blood pressure decent. As soon as my stomach began gurgling after the 3rd bottle the RN was there right away to help me transfer to a bedside commode. I stayed there until I finished the 4th bottle and things became totally liquid. Then back to the bed with a chux on it. Then we did a little troubleshooting knowing what the rest of the night would be like and that those commodes are not good on skin. She went to talk to a more experienced nurse and we decided on taping a colon collection bage to my butt. I could sleep on my side and the RN came in to check the tape occasionally and my BP. This only works once things turn liquid. I also understand some people with kidney problems don't do well with the magnesium citrate and so get the awful GoLytely. I've had 3 and due for my 4th colonoscopy this Fall. One failed miserably when my GI doc opened his own endoscopic center and couldn't do 23 hour stays. His clean out routine did not work for a good result and so we'll be doing the 23 hour stay as my new PCP will soon find out for this one.

I am scheduled to get it done in 2 weeks. The dr. gave me a page of instruction. Basically, no food after sat night and drink water the entire sunday. Take miralax twice on sunday and come in on monday. He didn't mention anything about golytely. May be i should call back and ask about the procedure.

The Angle of Water colon clense is suppose to do the job: http://www.angelofwater.com/equipment/how-it-works/ This looks a lot like your photo, but you might ask. The other colon cleanse places apparently take 3 trips on 3 consecutive days.

Unless you can get to a PIE machine, it is apparently worth a shot. I personally will never undergo 2 gallons of Go Litely again. And for it to be in use in a VA SCI center today is beyond my words to comment on in public.

I'd call him back and have your physiatrist's number handy. That, the Miralax, and a fleet enema was what my doc wanted for his new center. I starved for lousy results on the test.

What a nightmare I do not even like thinking of lying on my side trying to rush off to the commode > it is degrading , Just me thinking of drinking a gallon of golitly scares the Poo out of me

Like healthy ol warm prune juice is not enough !!!

My Friend told me recently after he just had that procedure his insides do not feel the same I told him because you were so full of ***t no pun intended

He has problems BTw the Dr lost the polyp,s and other samples and then Wanted to perform the procedure again !!!
How do you lose a Polyp ?

My friend said No He will go to the other place it is only over 100 miles from him ...some VA He has choices ...

What scares me is the fact I dont have choices
In my case Scary thing is there is only one place ( hospital ) to get the procedure
I am not looking forward to my round ....Same place where his polyp got lost ...

These stories remind me why I take care of myself at home, and avoid hospitals.

I did my prep at home. Started on a light diet 3 days ahead of the prep. Soups broths, etc.

Bought those square 'chucks' and did my deed on that then had helper clean me up for next round... etc etc while drinking that stuff. Started on a Sunday about 1pm. I think it was like 6 hours total and i was done. Had 1 or two eruptions during night..which i didnt have helper around for.. so definitely will next time. by next morning all was done.

Ya it sucks, but shouldn't be that horrible. One key is eating light before.

Oh.. and I drank 7up periodically with that stuff to gag it down.
