3 flats in 2 1/2 weeks

Third one today. Had to ride the flat home three miles. I've had it with a 650c front wheel. Going to 559. A stupid 1/4" more clearance between the wheel and fork and we could be using a beefier 650c.

I can go months without a flat and other times ir's like this. When I put 540's on one of my Pro's never had a flat or tire wear out. Just used the Cheng wheelchair 540 and worked great.

Wow!!! Another one? I feel for you. I'm using Mavic double wall rims with the Conti GP4000s and really like them, my recent flat notwithstanding -- can't really blame the tire or wheel or anything else when I ride over a wire mesh with sharp ends and drag it 20 feet.

I think it's the thin sidewalls on the 650's that cause the most flats; other than pinch flats.

I guess I was lucky last winter riding in Florida I only had one flat tire and that was the next mourning when I checked the tire after a ride it was flat. I did a lot of high speed cruising with the power pod and thought for sure the tires where going to give me more issues than they did. It was the conti's I was running that came with the FRH-1, great tires.

Perhaps it's time I try the Conti's again, had the same mis-fortune when I tried them so many years ago. I'm sure I have a strip used for lining the tire around somewhere, will try that again.

jeebus I hate stupid frenchman tubes.

So I ain't rode my FRH for a month due to a sprained thumb. Go to get on it this morn and they's all squishy. I realize tire pressure is a part of life, but with a cervical-level spinal cord injury dinking around with presta valves sucks buffalo gonads.

so I'll pose this question before I pump up my shit and head out.

Is there a way to put some schrader valves in those skinny little Mavic's?

patM, what's involved in putting 559s on this rig? Scrawny little road tires aren't my style anyway.... I feel like designing a completely new front-end for this bike and having it built.

Damn it I want a Nuke.

Hey Tooley. You could drill out the holes in the rim to accept a Shcrader valve.

To change to a 559 we need to of course get a 559 wheel and change out to a longer caliper brake. I'm looking into it my self.

I know it's not my rim tape, it's hitting the small uneven ridges in the road causing a pinch flat.
