Four years ago we had the kitchen sink replaced and a new faucet installed. Two years ago a plumber said we needed a new spout because the old one had a flaw when forged. Moen came through with a new part. Two days ago the same faucet was deemed irreparable as a set screw crumbled. Contacting Moen, they agreed to pick up part of the cost of a replacement. Calling the plumber back, I found the 6 button on my year old Panasonic phone quit working.
Four years for a faucet, one year for a phone? I hope the Chinese made US Olympic Team uniforms last through the games.

$600 China made GE window air conditioner failed 3 weeks before the warrenty ended. Repaired for free. I have people offer me free air conditioners that have been working for years or stored in basements and still work. Equipment made today is junk. I hate to buy Chinese crap but have little choice. LG from South Korea may be better.

maytag is shitty too. I had one that was over forty years old, and gave it away when I moved. new maytag, auto water level thingy broke after a year. replaced it, that one broke in a year and four months. warranty is expired.
It is awful how everything is made to break. I want my forty year old maytag back. |

Things ( Appliances ) Are not made as sturdy as old days
Call me old Fashioned but my 1894 Washboard is still the way to go when Washing clothes and intimates plus those corrugated ridges are good for rubbing my hands soft So what if I hang my clothes on my Trees and a clothes line it is healthier for the enviorment and my 99 yr ol papa taught me good ol morals like little house on Prarie and Waltons .. Ok pullin arms here bustin chops I am country in reality but not that far behind times kinda my paragraph just reminded me of Beverly Hillbillies Jody slap me

I had to put a final note on this thread. The plumber installed the new faucet last week and it leaked. It has already had its first repair, a new cartridge.

Moen has been $$, beautiful and shoddy since I've been old enough to buy faucets...which is a while!
I spit on Moen. |

I'm into the plumbing and electrical trade here
in the EU we look for quality assurance through BS serial no EN serial no And ISO certification. Any maufacturer will glady print these QA numbers on their products should they achieve standard. one may look up the serial no and then look up quality performance. Eg there are many different grades of stainless steel so if the supplier says its rust resistant look for QA No. Again in plumbing/electrical never attach dis similar metals together even if both are rust proof |

My Sharp window a/c units have served me well for 15 years. Once I get over the disbelief that I could be old enough to have an appliance for 15 years, I am very glad I returned the Frigidaire.

My Hamilton Beach food processor just croaked and it was...25 years old. We bought it at the Ft Meade PX as soon as we transferred from Rome. I agree. How can I have an appliance for that long?
