Actually Tim - quite the opposite. I actually enjoy when people share their complications, medical problems, etc.

One, it gives me something to watch out for ... two, we learn by discussing it and having that discussion moderated by the SCI Nurses and Doc. Three, you could prevent someone from the same problem.

I agree with you though - it is depressing and you've had more than your fair share of hard luck lately. If anything this is a great sound-off board for when you're feeling down so sound-off! We are here to hear you and you are certainly not alone.

LOL, Tim. At Club Med they worry their sunburn will peel, or their liposuction scars will show.

Lynnifer's right, when you've got health questions this is the place to ask. It's depressing for sure, but when my doctors suck I'm sure grateful for this place.

I was diagnosed about 2 weeks ago with cellulits in my right forearm. Put on bactrim, that silver cream and wrapped. The burning, redness, and hardness continued to worsen, when it started spreading into my elbow and wrist, went to my reg. doctor and he put me on another antibiotic, also gave me some in a shot. And, a shot for the pain. Now on to my question....It has been two days now and it is looks the same, the pain is almost gone, but where the pain was is now totally numb. Is this normal in cellulitis?

Dear emtdiv
If the treatment you have done for 2 days now has not improved the condition of your leg you need to go to the ER today. IV antibiotics may be in order, but also a closer look at your forearm as to the etiology below the surface.

best wishes keep us posted after going to the ER

Not that I ever experienced. I tend to experience severe itching, pain and heat at the site spreading outward. And if you have this in an arm that can go to your heart faster. Head to an ER if there hasn't been any change or it seems worse. I tend to get a reoccurance of where a brown recluse bit me about 9 years pre-SCI in the upper left arm. Happens about every 5 or 6 years.

I guess numbness can happen if the swelling is pressing on peripheral nerves.

I also say go to the ER. Go now, its better to be sent home because its not as bad as you thought than end up admitted for IV antibiotics. I've been hospitalized a couple times for cellulitis, the first time I was very stubborn and didn't realize what the big deal was. I ended up having a resistant infection that was getting worse despite oral antibiotis, so I was quickly admitted for IV antibiotics. When I was discharged I had to take 2 oral antibiotics for 6 more weeks. Get it looked at!!

Never thought of that one. Thanks! So far I've been lucky that that damn itching has told me within a few hours what's going on. I'm sure at some point it will hit elsewhere.
