Just want to mention in case some folks don't already know, Comcast has all five episodes now on On Demand. I've seen them all. I'll keep watching. It's the only show on TV I know about that has people in chairs and they are not AB actors. I'll keep watching.

That's exactly how I feel about it too.

Yeah, I'm just desperate to see people even a little like me on TV. These women are real chair users and no matter what, that alone makes the show unique to me. I effin' hate seeing AB actors in chairs especially since they get so much wrong. Maybe I'm getting the idea to make my own Youtube series showing how it really is. Can't keep the devotees away but it would be something other disabled folks could watch and relate to.

all gimps should stand. its prob the single most important thing we can do.
Agreed. Enjoy your delicate bones and broken femurs; I'll stand. But this is about more than just bones...

You get dizzy becasue your heart isn't strong enough to pump enough blood to your head when you're vertical. The more you stand, the less dizzy you'll be. I don't know what your injury is like, but it concerns me that your heart isn't strong enough to do this. It's the most important muscle in your body. I mean, if you were AB and you got dizzy every time you stood up, that'd be a problem, no?

What was your last blood pressure reading?

Usually at dr it is 90 /60 but it goes down to 70/40 at times but even if I try to sit up straight with good posture I get light headed. I think this discussion will give a lot of people thought. I wonder if my stim bike gives some bone strength? Surprised these girls don't have / use these bikes.

i used to stand, but it gave me AD. it didnt do anything to help my bones (i got a broken leg even though i was using a stander 2hr/day) havent had an issue since. standing alone isnt enough to help bones/circulation. you need impact to help strengthen bones and you need movement for circulation.

as brian pointed out it helps everything. skin, bp, bladdr bones muscles circulation. im 25 yrs post this month, ive stood since a got out of rehab, huge part of why ive always been so healthy imo. no excuse for any gimp not to stand. our bodies werent ment to be in a sitting position 15 hrs a day.

Yeah, I wish there were some definative studies (Wise/Nurses?) that really determine if it actually does help bone strength and more as Fuentes says. Of course their lit will show you many such studies proving it does..but as we all know..you can find a study to support anything.

Gotta get a darn bone scan asap to see if I can even do it safely now.

That's crazy! And your doctor is okay with it being that low?

Yeah I remember him from the show "Brothers", I think that was it's name and yep he's a real chair user. I do remember appreciating that he was on the show and his chair wasn't the point but also wishing the show had been better. Still, it was a victory.
