I have ordered the book from Amazon and very anxious to start reading it. You have the same injury level as my son. We are planning to check out Project Walk soon, just waiting to see what PT schedule the insurance will pick up first at St. Jude's or Casa Colina.

Congratulations to you - you are now a published author!

Haha! Thank You, it actually has a couple different meanings. One being my dark "Encounter" while in ICU after my accident. Instead of the bright glowing light we've all heard of mine was pretty much the exact opposite. It was a good kick to the arse for me that I needed & I'm in a better place now because of it though... I hope you enjoy the book!

By the way, BIG THANX TO EVERYONE HERE for your kind words!!!

CHEERS!

Thank You!! I hope you enjoy the read. Sorry to hear about your son. How old & how far post injury is he? Project Walk is pretty damn awesome, I'm there every week. Have you met with the Hargraves/BePerfect Foundation? I've heard good things about Casa Colina too...

CHEERS!!

A.J.'s accident was in Feb. - so four months, and he's been home the last 6 weeks. He turned 18 while in the hospital and today is his high school graduation. He is taking part in the ceremony today and tonight's Grad Nite festivities so it's a big day for him. He was actually able to finish his last semester in the In Home & Hospital Instruction program. (Thanks to Pomona Unified School District team and their great efforts!)

Don't know of Hargraves but have heard of BePerfect from others. Just been crazy with all the changes in our lives (our house was in escrow at the time of the accident) but now we will be able to focus on his therapy, therapy, more therapy and all the great support that is out there.

Good to hear your son AJ’s back home. That’s absolutely awesome that the school district worked with you guys to help him finish the year & graduate. Congrats to him!! From what you’ve said he sounds a lot like me when I was still in the hospital. I was stubborn as hell about “accepting” my new limitations, didn’t want anything to with a huge ugly power wheelchair (especially a mouth controlled one) & no one could convince me otherwise. Stubbornness is great for recovery so tell him not to lose it! Hey I wanted to let you know about another website that just went live this week in case you weren’t already aware if it: http://www.projectwalkconnect.com/ It’s sort of a Project Walk version of Facebook. It’s already 200+ members & it’s yet another great site to network with other SCI survivors & their families. I know of at least 6 other families here in Socal who are or have been in almost the exact situation your family is in right now with their son being injured. They’ve all become good friends of ours since my injury & would be great for you to meet. Also, Project Walk holds an open house type of event every year in October called “Steps To Recovery”… http://www.projectwalkconnect.com/ev...ps-to-recovery Just a couple of things for you to check out if you’d like… I hope this helps! Good luck & Cheers to your son, you & your family, I’m sure we’ll all meet each other at some point!

CHEERS!

OK, so I reposted my original message from this thread in a few different forums because I figured the subject matter falls under multiple categories (Life, Exercise/Recovery, New SCI, Family, SCI Parenting etc…) I wasn’t attempting to be sneaky. Anyway, I was told “Ok, you wrote a book, now stop trying to sell your book on this site.” I’ll admit I got a little bugged, but even more bugged with myself for the way I apparently came across. Everyone’s always been cool & civil with me on this site, so the LAST thing I want to do is come across as a creep with the hidden agenda of trying to pimp his book off to the SCI masses. I get the website user policies (like not posting commercial websites in posts or signatures) are in place to prevent fraudulence & spamming & by doing duplicate posts of basically the same message, with different titles, I most likely violated another one of them. I didn’t exactly wanna get banned here so I just deleted them. I’m not trying to spam the site & as I’ve said before, I’ve no aspirations of becoming a millionaire through book sales. Quite honestly, my only agenda is to reach as many SCI affected people as possible. When I think of all the help I’ve had in the past 5 years & where it’s brought me I would sincerely like to be able to pay it forward by helping someone else who might be where my family & I once were after my accident. The book is $13. If people are broke or bankrupted from this wonderful injury as I & most of my SCI friends have eventually become, shoot me your e-mail address & I’ll send you a PDF version free of charge. Proceeds from this book aren’t exactly allocated towards funding my summers in the Hamptons. If there ever actually are any proceeds.

(Sorry for the extended-dance-mix-post but I have a big mouth!)

Once again, Cheers to all my S.C.I. friends across the planet & my Project Walk Family… I LOVE YOU GUYS BADD!! Thanx In Advance for your support!!
