Able-Phone AP7000
Has anyone tried the Able-Phone AP7000? It's supposed to be completely voice controlled. I'm trying to find out all I can before I spend $550. I need a phone that is compleely hands free. I'm unable to phsyically use a phone while in bed. I had a Justel VA2000 until it died. It worked ok as long as you used the same tone of voice when programmed. Sometimes that was trying when the tone was not recognized.

I have two of these phones. One I am keeping as a spare in case the other fails. I never had (nor needed) a voice activated phone before, so take that into account with my comments…
I have two dogs and their barking sets the phone off. Multiple people talking at the same time will set it off. Sometimes it seemed to go off without any obvious prompting noises. At one point in time it was going off and would not let me voice activate to hang up or even take a number to call, so it kept cycling the "Name to dial?" prompt for an hour before someone came to physically hang it up. That actually happened several times, soI shipped it back to the company for repairs. I did what they recommended by recording a long multi-syllable actuation prompt, but still had problems. The worst was laying in bed one day while my wheelchair was in for repairs. I received a call and did not get it "hung up". The "off the hook" warning buzzer blared for more than two hours 12 inches from my head. There is no way to voice activate (hang up) once this happens because the sound is so loud and reapeats so fast. |

Maybe they should program it to recognize that as a signal to hang up.
