Its not the chicago branch, but I had a positive experience with the Indianapolis branch of United Seating and Mobility. My seating guy was Jeff. There were a few small things he didn't know, but overall a really good experience and I love my chair. He always responded swiftly to my questions, including responding to emails on the weekends or evenings.

ATG rehab charged insurance more than double retail price for my wheelchair and will not honor the warranty. They tried to charge me for a broken part and now they are trying to charge Medicare. I'm sick of the rip-offs so I'm going through the Better Business Bureau online and reporting them. I'm really bummed because they did the right processes to getting my wheelchair and fitting it right. BBB online is not that hard to report but call the company first and find out why they are being unfair. I used ATG rehab in Ft. Wayne, IN. I think origin in Chicago, IL.

Beenhakker (Holland)

We were forced to rent wheelchairs through Beenhakker (in Holland) because of how the rules work here with the government. Although some of their staff have been good, their company is dis-organized, do not follow through, and worst of all, don't communicate when they make mistakes or lie about their mistakes.

We have a service contract for a crappy manual wheelchair. A critical safety part had broken off -- the back stabilizer bar. It's a folding chair and the back stabilizer bar locks it and keeps it from not folding up.

While waiting 2 months for a simple $50 part, the chair folded up from out under my husband and he flipped out of the chair onto his head on hard tiles. We thought he had broken his neck, or at least a few bones. Luckily he only suffered a mild concussion, but had a bad cut, a lot of bruising and pain. It also caused him a lot of emotional trauma (and also me as his caregiver) and a loss of confidence that has really set him back in his rehab.

After documenting everything (phone calls, e-mails, photo's, etc.) they still tried to refuse to provide a replacement chair, lied to us about having ordered parts, and then finally only did something after we copied the government about it.

In the end, it took 81 days to receive the part, that if it was possible (without breaking service contract) I could have had in a matter of days.

Then they sent a ridiculous letter in reply to our complaint saying that they had done an internal investigation (that was wrong) and hoped that we accepted their excuses and would trust them again. Nothing more.

As you can imagine, we are not accepting this. Unfortunately, the law here is probably not on our side, and they will probably get away with it. Hopefully naming and shaming them, even if only a few Dutch folks read this, will at least let others know to "stay away".

EmCart (Holland)

We are required to use EmCart (in Holland) because of our insurance. So far, we have a hi-low bed and a standing frame from them, and are very happy with them.

In both cases, once I sent the paperwork through, they have been very good to respond to us promptly, make appointments, and deliver within a reasonable amount of time. The ordering staff and technicians have done what they said they would, and if there were any snags, they contacted us to inform us.

Because we have had good success with them, we are also considering purchasing a wheelchair and power add-on from them. So far, that part of the group, EmCart Sport, have also been very good.

I would recommend them to others.

I Got my TDX SP through a combination of Steve In the Erie office and Lisa in the Tarenton Office of Blackburn's Doctors supply,we did this because we wanted my evaluation Done at the Center for Assistive Technology at the University of Pittsburgh so lisa from the Tarenton office just outside of Pittsburgh came to the evaluation and then sent the paperwork to Steve in Erie so that the chair would be delivered to erie and not Pittsburgh and our plan worked like a charm.

Here in town my "first" evaluation the OT was willing to give me a "barbee" wheelchair a piece of rolling junk and my seating specialist Steve was like she is out of her tiny little mind and did not review everything we gave her,and now we will not be able to get a more favorable decision here so thats was part of the reason we went to Pittsburgh the other reason was instead of them looking interpretations of tests they could actually see the test's because they where done there, so the Doctor,PT & OT looked at one large monitor with all my EMG's over the last 4 years and out of 16 each was progressively worse.

And after seeing this the Doctor said to the PT & OT "I will support any and all power options " which is exactly what i got. And i went to Blackburn's because the first company i was with screwed the pooch so many times that they dropped me and told me "You will never get a wheelchair thru Medicare" Less than six months later blackburn's proved them wrong. So i have high praise for Blackburn's Erie/Tarenton

Atg

I am using ATG Baltimore, what used to be Chesapeake Rehab. John has gone the extra distance to assist me in getting my chair. The order was placed on July 27th and Ti-Lite has it set for delivery at Frank Mobility on 8/17.
My insurance was a pain but I got 95% of the features I wanted and small out of pocket due to insurance exclusion.

Lots of folks came together but John at ATG as well as my insurance case manager made it happen.

Merlino Fitness has been impossible to deal with! I ordered gloves on 8/5/12 and paid extra for 3 day shipping and have not heard a WORD form them. I've emailed and called, leaving messages, and nothing. At least they haven't charged my card YET. Buyers beware is all I can say. Their website looks great and "my" gloves are on sale, but where are they?

I order my gloves from Emma here: http://www.glovesforlife.com/ They are incredibly durable and wash well. Worth the money. She is a 1 person shop and they are labor of love--she designed them for her son who is a quad.
