China is developing 'numerous' treatments for spinal injuries
08 January 2010 China is developing a number of new treatments for spinal injuries thanks to generous funding from its government, it has been suggested. A study by the Canadian-based McLaughlin-Rotman Centre for Global Health claims that China's government is funding various regenerative medicine (RM) research projects and is recruiting top scientists to conduct this research. The study, published today (January 8th) in the UK journal Regenerative Medicine, said that China made 1,116 contributions to scientific journals on RM topics in 2008. Researchers at the Stem Cell Center affiliated with Tiantan Puhua Neuroscience Hospital in Beijing, claim they have successfully activated and multiplied the body's own neural stem cells using oral and intravenous medications and rehabilitation. They have also been using brain injections of stem cell types including bone marrow stem cells and foetal neural stem cells to improve symptoms of spinal injury and neurological diseases. http://www.seriousinjurylaw.co.uk/ne...l-injuries.php
