You can also check if your area has a Tetra Society:

http://www.tetrasociety.org/community/index.php

It's a group of retired engineer-types who volunteer to build all sorts of gizmos and adaptations. They made me a nifty thermos holder for my chair and a bracket for my bed.

A Camelbak is good, but there are also these options:

1. Put a 1 gallon jug on the floor or on a stool lower than the mattress height. Put a long piece of flexible tubing into the jug, and the other end can either be attached to your hand with your U-cuff (if you have enough biceps to get your hand to your mouth) or attached to the side rail. The trick with this is taking a drink and then pushing the water back with a breath...otherwise you can end up siphoning all the water right onto you in bed.

or this one:

Another option is this one:
3. http://service.maddak.com/catalog/745820000.asp

I have been using a backpack style hydration system on my bed for the past 6 years, it has worked great and I have recommended it many times on the forum. The only problem is all the straps that are not necessary any more.

Camelbak makes one that is called a StoAway, meant to be placed inside a pack.
Much better as it does not have unnecessary carrying or attachment devices.

It is easy to find additional tubing to extend the length of the drinking tube.

I've been using a couple next to my bed on the table with a long piece of tubing, the kind of tubing to use to supply air in fish tanks, going from the cup, taped in, around my bed rail and in my lab where I can pick it up and get a drink whenever I need to. The only problem I have is drinking in too fast and running out before my caregivers come in in the morning, and if I don't blow all the fluid back into the cup it will leak out on the bed all over me. Hope that helps

If you're using tubing, please be sure to use food grade tubing, which you can find in the plumbing section Aquarium tubing and other types of plastic tubing aren't rated for food safety.

I think I like the Camelbak best, there are so many different kinds though does anybody have any suggestions on what model they like best and why?

Approximately how long is the CamelBak Tube Director? Is it stiff enough where it stays in place good?

Read my message.
4 back.

Camelbak StoAway. Insulated

I added extra tubing so the drinking end (bite valve) lays on my blanket where I can reach it easily and I can drink from practically any position.

Campmor also carries the parts for cleaning the bladder and most importantly the drinking tube.

Camelbak cleaning kit. $17.99
