get a heavier quilt or an electric blanket, but keep that on low. That's what I had to do.

Keeping an electric blanket turned on while you're in bed, even on low, is a dangerous idea if you have anything less than normal sensation. A safer way to use an electric blanket to preserve body heat is to turn it on before you transfer to pre-heat the bed, then turn it off, get in, and add a blanket or comforter on top. You can do the same thing using a heating pad. It can be a really cozy nest. When I lived in Michigan, I made up the bed with flannel sheets, pre-warmed it, then put a duvet on top after shutting off the electric blanket and transferring in. The only bad part was getting out of bed the next morning.

Another suggestion to help get yourself warmed up is to run a blow dryer and blow hot air under your covers when you wake up cold. Again, adding a blanket on top after doing this will help preserve th heat throughout the night.

Hope that will hep you!

About your pump replacement, why are they turning it down to nothing before it's replaced? As someone who overdosed after her last pump replacement, I heartily endorse turning the dose down before the pump is replaced (especially if they are also replacing catheter and tubing), but I've not heard of the baclofen dose being totally discontinued before. Can you shed some light on the reasons behind this?

Hi,
I would agree that sleeping with an electric blanket on for long periods is not recommended, due to your decreased sensation. Coleen, you have been lucky but please stop this practice. Try the other ideas mentioned above.

As far as your subnormal temperature, are you feeling Ok otherwise?

Decreasing baclofen dose dramatically can have a definite effect on your body, so this too could be contributing. I would run this by your doctors so they are aware of this.

Electric OVER blanket! That's got to be safer than an underblanket, right?

I have used one for maybe a couple of years, and no skin issues. In fact, I am sat in bed with my blanket on right now, as I am freezing.
I use it quite a lot during the night, as warming up the bed, then turning heat off would mean I would be mindnumbingly cold after a short time.

Get a high fill down comforter or blanket, those work the best for me during the winter months.

My daughter is AB and slept real hard one night with the electric blanket on her.
Next morning she had a hugh blister on her thigh where the blanket was smushed between her 2 legs. She can feel normal and it was bad. I'd never sleep with one on me. Be careful.

One thing someone suggested to me, and while it seems silly, it makes a difference .... wear a hat to bed. I find it helps.
