Where to find cheap forearm crutches

I am ambulatory and usually walk without assistance, but I have found in some recreational settings(hiking, uneven terrain) I need more balance. Can anyone suggest a good place to pick up cheap forearm crutches? New or used doesnt really matter and they dont have to be pretty...just cheap. I dont want to go through insurance hassles if I can afford not to.

I will check with my cousin Eric for sure, but he'd probably give you his for a little bit of nothing.

He's a C7 incomplete quad who was injured two months after me (both of us diving accidents in central Nebraska lakes) but he's walking full time completely unassisted and without as much as a limp.

I'll check with him for sure, but they're all black, and I'm almost positive. He has no use for them and would be more than willing to part with them for someone who does.

jbinny, sounds like we're on the same diving team. I hate your cousin. Just kidding obviously, but not even a limp huh? Lucky bastardo!

My buddy Kelly was ran over, crushed most of his T's and rendered complete. Then, his legs started wiggling around and a year and a half later he can jump, ride a bike and pee freely. I would not believe it if I didn't see it myself. Hope your recovery is coming along....

Believe me, every time I talk to him, I remind them how lucky he is.
He's only eight months post but if you saw him out in public, you'd never know that in August, he could barely even moved his fingers. We were lucky enough to be out at Craig at the same time... I say this because I don't know what I would have done without the support of my family.

sledhockeygirl-
if jbinny's cousin doesn't work out, check out e-bay...I bougght my back-up pair from an e-bay store/vendor quite a while back for about $60 or so...They had a variety of colors with the molded plastic style cuff, which is what I prefer. I'll try to get on there & find the vendors again as well...
