Cracked toenail
I have somehow craked the toenail on my big toe about halfway down and about halfway across from the outside edge to the middle. Should I try to use nail glue or something similar to hold it together until it grows out on its own (in months) to protect it from getting snagged or damaged more or pulling off?
It is too far down to cut off. |

Trim or file off any sharp or ragged edges you can. If you have any raw skin, cover with Neosporin ointment. Cover with a bandaid that you change daily until it is grown out to the point that it is protecting the top of your toe again. If you have more problems, you should see a podiatrist.

Thanks,
I nail glued the crack together and it looks ok. Hopefully that will keep it safe from snagging until it can grow out. I don't know if I could find a good podiatrist familiar with SCI feet. I remember being told that the one associated with the local rehab is who you should use if you want ingrown toenails. |
