Question What age should kids be taught about the 'birds and the bees'

Ok so my little girl hasn't even cut teeth yet and I'm already planning for the day haha. But I did read a BBC report which got me thinking, apparently they are considering sex and contraception education at 10 in UK schools. Isn't this rather late I don't even remember how old I was when I learnt about the 2-backed beast but it was definitely before I hit 10. What are your opinions/experiences.

My son got his first hicky at 15. I try to keep him as dumb as possible because I do not want to be a Grandfather anytime soon.

Ignorance is far more likely to make you a grandfather than would honest communication about emotions, physical sensations, birth control, disease prevention and personal responsibility.

Birds/Bees

A child should know about the birds/bees once he/she
starts asking questions. There are ways to explain sex
with being to graphic. Each child is different one can
be more mentally mature then another.

A little advice... Sit down with your some asap and explain how to be protected from HIV / Aids / Unwanted pregancy. If he is not having sex he will be within the next couple of years.

He knows for sure living with me for 10 years as a single Dad. Remember when you were young? I was gonna have sex with this girl I knew so I wanted to be safe so I had a condom open but I was too excited to use it. Kids have no brain in the teen years. They are Koo Koo for Hoo Hoo.

Hunker,
You, made me laugh, bravo.
Kids as well as adults don't have brains when it
comes to HOO HOO.
Everyday is a challenge.

I'd say in 5th/6th grade it should be taught. Which I think is when I was taught it.

I learned at 9.

My cousin got pregnant at 16. I overheard my older bro telling Mom "She shouldn't have done that." I said she didn't do it, God did.

I was sent to my room with a book with pencil drawings. Most insufficient. I remember looking at my 4 year old bro running naked through the house-AGAIN- and thinking "I just don't get how this works."

So my advice is to be sure she has adequate reading skills.

My kids learned through osmosis, I guess. Nobody would sit still long enough to have a conversation. I'm still clearing up misconceptions, even though we're pretty open and nobody hesitates to ask me for condom subsidies or girlfriend rides to Planned Parenthood.

Last year Jake was under the delusion that a hot shower post-coitus was effective birth control. I'm sure glad he didn't have enough game to try that one out!
