But is he paralyzed???

Grrrrr, just got a phone call from one of my aunts. A cousin fell out of a tree this past week and broke his back. They're measuring him for 'something that takes the place of the full body casts they used to use in cases like his'.
Now I love my family dearly, but the lack of details is making me nuts. Dang civilians don't know where he broke it (what level), what he's being fitted for (clamshell and TLSO drew blanks), what, if any, function he's lost, if he's had surgery. Just 'he broke his back'. My mom's the youngest of ten, so I have about 32 first cousins on Mom's side. Dad is one of nine, with twenty-something firsts on that side. Growing up, I had 17 aunts and 17 uncles. They're starting to pass now, and I hate losing any of'em. This cousin's a drunk (as he puts it, alcoholics go to meetings- he's a drunk) and I don't know how that's gonna affect things. I'm not even sure which hospital he's in. Apparently he was treated at some little community hospital, then transferred. Transferred where? Good question.
