Lyrica
Has anyone as yet seen a noticable reduction in pain by using Lyrica as compared to Neurontin. My doctor wants me to try it, but I have seen no threads by anyone as yet who has seen any benefit.

I've tried all kinds of meds against pain; also neurontin but that didn't do a thing for me. Since september I'm taking lyrica which really reduces the burning. The only thing is side effects... for me: weight gain and loss of the little strength I had in my legs :-( But as far as the pain, this is the first medecin in six years that reduces the pain!

Lyrica wins over neurontin!
I was just ready to post a new note on this and I found your question. I was on neurontin for 2 1/2 yrs. I have burning, stinging pain in my butt and feet a lot and was looking for more relief. I just tapered off neurontin (1600-2400/ day) and onto lyrica (150mg 2X day) and I have had less pain. Less intensity and less often. I still get it and it varies still, but the intense times are less intense and I'm finding I can do more in a day because of less pain
. I do feel just a little loopy, though. If I don't eat especially, but not bad.

My second trial of Lyrica went no better than the first. I developed tooth and gum pain, and mouth ulcers, a slight headache, and absolutely no relief.
Spring is coming, and I feel like crap. My back feels like a complete mess, and then there's all the rest of me that doesn''t affect my sitting, chair driving, and other activities. Bah!

I hear so many mixed reports on lyrica that I quit trying to wean myself off neurontin and on to it. I was taking them both at the same time , and the less neurontin I took the more burning i had. Also, my side effects , was that I couldn't sleep. Now I'm having so much burning that am thinking about going back to the lyrica.
But then again, there are too many mixed reports. Until I get completely positive response from more than one person . I will stick with the neurontin.

Lyrica
So far its the only thing that seems to settle the awful pins and needles from hell. I have tried it all...EVERYTHING AVALIBLE.... its the only one that I really feel does anything at all. Neurontin just makes me loose my memory and mind and make very bad foggy decisions. I think Lyrica is worth the chance. Thanks MIke

Neither works for me
When neurontin (3600mg/day) didn't seem to change the burning pain, I weaned myself off and began using lyrica (150mg/day). My doctor is willing to take my suggestions many of which originate from this forum. Giving it about a month or more, I still noticed no relief so have decided to drop both drugs, at least for now, although I now have a slew of capsules! I feel like if I can tolerate the pain without the medicine, it's better to avoid any unnecessary side effects.
I do know that when I'm busy I don't notice the burning pain as much. Mind over matter??? |

Lyrica
I Have Been On It For 2 Weeks Now. I Was On Neurontin For 5+ Years. I Have Not Noticed Any Ill Side Effects Like Neurontin Except For Little Lights (floaters) Occasionally.
I Will Make A Note Of It To Let You Know. Bridget

I have been on lyrica for 3 months. At first was a little dizzy, and had weakness in legs. On 100mg 2x a day. Helps with the bruning at the incision site, and in my legs.
