Sea Kayaking
I am T10 complete and I have just got back from a kayaking trip - on the 13th June (a Friday) we left Vancouver and on the 15th of August we got to Juneau in Alaska.
When I broke my back (6 years ago in November) I thought I had lost my ability to indulge my love of wild places. I have spent the last two months in fantastic wilderness, camping wild and kayaking past whales, porpoises, sea otters.... the works. On our trip there were two of us who are paraplegic and seven AB's. KAren (T3) paddled in the front of a double kayak and I paddled a single. A fantastic trip but great to be re-united with my wheelchair at the end of it. Our lives may have changed dramtically but with a pig headed refusal to look the facts in the face and accept defeat and a little bit of design work to modify the kayak we can still enjoy some of what we did before. I am now recovering from a moderate pressure sore but that inconvenience is well worth it for the chance to paddle a kayak in a fantastic location and be making the same memories as the AB's you are paddling with. |

Congratulations Adrian. Sounds like a fantastic trip and experience.
I was in Alaska last September and loved it. Beautiful, extraordinary country and wildlife. |

Wow, that sounds great. I have traveled this route on a cruise ship and marveled at all the natural beauty, but you were really part of it. Congrats...you can be very proud of yourself for this achievement!
