Too many bricks on the load

Yesterday was the 1 year anniversary of my accident. This date came with continued mind numbing spasms & central pain that no medications can touch! My husband is exhausted trying to be my caregiver, work and do household duties. I have regained some function, but it is greatly undermined by powerful and continous spasms/spasticity/CP!

We are contantly having to fight some battle with the insurance or disability co wanting to subrogate benefits. We are amazed and frustrated by dr that walk into an appt without even looking at my chart and ask when I was last seen. They didn't even have a record of my recent hospitalization in the same hospital as their practice! They shrug it off when we complain and we can't switch dr as they are the only one in the state!

As if this wasn't enough, this weekend (3 days before my daughter and my accident) her close friends were in a car accident in which one was injured and the other killed instantly! Michelle and her group were all at a SR year girls sleepover. The two girls went to get a board game and after leaving the house of the girl hat died, they hit a bridge on a rain slicked road!

This has been a h*llish year and all I can hope is that it gets better. That is really hard to hold onto when life is this hard1

I am lucky because i have a loving devoted husband, wonderful children and a fantastic family and friends.

Thanks for listening to me!

Elaine

Shaun brings me to tears, I've never seen this side... *sniff*

So, with his wise words and softness there is encouragement.

I just saw a young kid today with a c-6 injury, made me think of this post . I will lend him Shaun's words of wisdom...

Elaine, I'm so sorry about all you and your family have been going through. Somehow we get through these valleys, though I haven't quite figured out the how and why of it all.

Just know that you're not alone.

NC is a big state, there must be someplace else you can go?

Dear Elaine:

Please consider contacting your state Chapter at: http://www.ncscia.org/. Perhaps they can provide guidance dealing with beauracracy and support. It will get better. Cheers!

man, the first year can be tough, eh.

when i had my wreck that should have been bad enough, right. but then we found out that my sister has a small tumor behind her eye. Then my grandpa had a heart attack that kept my whole family, just calming down from my accident, back on worry mode. what a year!

Hope it gets better for you.

Oh, I'm so sorry about your daughter's friends. Also about your own hellish 1st year. The first 2 are terrible, I'm sorry to report. It gets easier. Not EASY, but easi-ER.
If it helps, Elaine, vent away. We've all been there.
