quads and pistols

I have had the urge to get a pistol for the past year. Problem is, my injury (c6/7) screwed up the trigger finger. I have a pellet rifle that I shoot, but I use the middle finger. Can this be down with a pistol too?

Possibly holding gun like this and pulling with the middle finger. I have not shot a gun (never a pistol) since I was a kid. Are the triggers hard to pull.

my glock has a 5lb trigger pull.....no, it doesnt take much to squeeze a trigger....every gun is different, ur best bet is go to a range that has a shop...u can set up with an instructor a weapons evaluation, where u can fire different pistols...see what works for u and if u can do whats needed...

Good advice here. I was suprised when I took my son the first time after his accident. He's C6/7 but has some hand/finger function. I had him try my 1911 first thinking the relatively light single action trigger would be easier to pull but he could not get a grip that would allow him to pull the trigger. He tried his uncle's Beretta 92 and was able to shoot it fine.

I'm a C7 and I shoot a Sig 226. I have a glove with velcro to go around my fingers to grip the handle and I pull the trigger with the other hand using the back side of my thumb.

Several year ago, I talked with a quad who had an electric trigger pull device that he activated with a mouth switch. I have seen mouth switches for cameras advertised and maybe one of these could be rigged up if you like to invent. I used a leather band on my finger that had a hook on it to shoot rifles and shotguns.

I'm C5 and use my middle finger to pull the trigger on both pistols & rifles. Depending on the type of pistol, you just have to be careful that your index finger doesn't get caught. Not sure of the mechanism's name, but when I shoot my father in laws pistol w/ a clip, I have to be careful that the top sliding piece doesn't grab a hold of my finger!

I hold my Glock with one hand and pull the trigger with the thumb of my other, but I have to shoot from the hip. Just be really careful because some Glocks have been known to shoot twice. I had this happen with a Glock 32 and I damn near took my face off!

Its a good idea to velcro the gun into your strong hand; it really helps the recoil and management of the gun.
