How do you weigh yourself?

Just curious how everyone gets weighed? I use the freight scales in my works mail room, I can just roll up on them, subtract the weight of my chair and that's how much I weigh.

I haven't weighed myself since '92.

Last time, at a roll-on scale at a hospital on the mainland. Before that, on a platform scale at work used to weigh marine mammals (I weigh less than a mature bottlenosed dolphin or California sea lion). Now-a-days, by the way my clothes fit.

I have a Hill-Rom bed with a scale on it. When both of my little brothers are on the bed with me holding the dog, I weigh almost what I did in school.

  • Weigh at your local large hospital or rehab center that has a wheelchair scale. We have people from the community using our scales all the time, and it is fine with us.
  • If you use either a mobile or ceiling track lift, most can be equipped with scales.
  • Industrial scales (often found on loading docks) are an option for some, but may not be accurately calibrated.

Ditto, usually weigh when I go into SCI doc, and subtract weight of chair. But the last surgery I had on my neck I stood with out braces , on the scale. Whoo-hoo. Weighed 240, down 20 lbs from before, I hope I keep going down.

I wish those scales weren't so expensive. The Hoyer lift scale retails for almost $1000. I'm a little underweight and would love to keep a closer eye on my weight rather than having to wait for a VA appointment.

I can always go in and weigh myself in the chair on the floor scale, but it isn't very accurate. I think because my power chair is so long that unless I am in the exact same position each time the weight varies no matter how hard I try to center myself on the scale.

You got me wondering if something like this would work for you (I haven't looked into the Hoyer lift scales) but this is a fraction of the cost...

I hope this helps

That just might work if I can hang the four points of the sling on that hook. Thanks.

My daughter is small enough that she can sit on the scale. She weighed 70 lbs at the time of her accident, lost 5lbs at the hospital and rehab and now over a year later she is almost 68lbs. She will be 12 in March.
