Faxing by e-mail - ???

Could someone please explain the fax/email idea. I must dial 10 10 321 for long distant calls because I do not use any other long distance companies. The fax/email services I am referring to are not too clear yet. If there is a way to use 10 10 321 or calling cards on a regular fax program I wish there were a great free fax software program that could integrate pin nubers and odd long distance numbers, but that is why a fax/mail type deal may work out for me.

It *may* be possible...
For the phone number to call, enter 1010321W(your pin number)W(your fax to number)
Should work, but it's been quite a while since I've done it.
The "W" tells the dialer to "Wait" a few seconds for the machine on the other end.

Try using a comma, it's the standard AT MoDem command for a 1 sec pause. (Example: 1010321,,Your PIN,,fax number <-This gives you a 2 sec pause before/after your PIN request)

I've done this in the past without a problem on my laptop. The trick is timing how many seconds to wait and respond before and after the PIN request. You'll have to try it a few times to get it right.

David,

I use a service called efax to receive and also send faxes. http://home.efax.com/s/r/eFaxHomepage

If you just want to receive emails, you get a free personal phone number and all faxes sent to that number will show up in your email as a picture file. It also allows you to send faxes from your computer at lower cost than calling by phone.

Wise.
