I plan to call in on Monday. Thank you for pushing me. Calling is harder for me than emailing.

Thanks for the info. It'll take a team of wild horses to knock the phone out of my hands next Monday.

Just emailed both Senators from Minnesota. Senator Norm Coleman is up for re-election this fall. This makes him (IMHO) a better canidate to push to make this call to Coburn. He is a fellow Republican and is a co-sponsor. He would love to "pad his resume" with this passage. I hope all of our Minnesota members can do this.

Keeping my fingers crossed this works!

Urgent message about calling Coburn: Don't.

I just had a conversation with the CRPF lobbyist about our friend the senator from Oklahoma, Mr. Coburn.

Here's the deal: he's the sort of guy who digs in deeper when he's pressured. If we call, we risk pissing him off, no matter how nice we are.

Our strategy is to get all 99 of the other senators to sponsor the bill. The way to do this is to call your own senator. If they're already a sponsor, thank them and try to get them to ask another senator (not Coburn) to become a sponsor too.

We have 33. We need 66 more. The way to do it is to make contact, ask for support of HR 1727, and then keep calling every single week until they say it's done. Our bill is not controversial; everybody but Coburn is happy to support it but they're too busy to actually do it.

    Thanks everybody!

Kate~ You posted a HR number. What is the Senate number? It has already passed the HR.
