    nerve tissue trying to heal itself

    i was taught in a general med course in 2003 that when nerves are severed they send out cells that make an educated guess where the other end of the nerve might be. if these "seeker cells" find the other side of the previously severed nerve they can reconnect the nerve though not to its original state.
