Thread: Travelling for work

    Travelling for work

I went to London for a meeting for the first time in over three years yesterday. It felt like another work related milestone I should have tackled some time ago.

London is a 2.5 hour train ride from the city where I live. Not a vast distance but an 11am meeting meant a bit of organisation.

It involved bribing my morning PCA to turn up at 6am and a dash through the city with a colleague to make the train. Virgin Trains were really accessible and staff were helpful. Cathing on a moving "tilting" train is virtually impossible though!

A fantastic wheelchair taxi service took me to and from client offices - if anyone ever wants their number PM me - I'll be using them again.

London pavements are rubbish, poorly maintained and few kerb cuts. To be fair I did only experience Euston Station area and Bond Street.

Glad I went though. Going again in two weeks. My boss is delighted he doesn't have to take all the London meetings.

Back home by 6.30pm. Celebrated by playing poker and drinking whisky with four friends until 2am. Paying for it today. I'm craving my bed

Way to go! Also, way to feed my horrible London cravings! I miss that town, not so much in February though. I'm glad you're still kicking down the barriers!

I choose to inhabit my days, to allow my living to open me, to make me less afraid, more accessible, to loosen my heart until it becomes a wing, a torch, a promise. I choose to risk my significance; to live so that which comes to me as seed goes to the next as blossom and that which comes to me as blossom, goes on as fruit."

I always forget what a cool, iconic city it is until I go again. I was there about once a month pre sci.

The architecture, new and old, is outstanding.

It's f*cking expensive though, I'd need to earn a fortune to have my equivalent lifestyle there. Was never tempted, even pre injury.

This was inevitable. As everybody knows, "you can't keep a good man down". It won't be long before the Rhino's range expands to all parts of the globe. Scary!

Congratulations on taking one more step to becoming you again!

Congrats on your business trip. I remember when I was working the first time they wanted to send me out of town (to Atlanta) where I would have to take taxi's and stay at a hotel. I was totally freaked but felt I had to do it, and then was really glad that I had as things worked out better than my fears by far.
