    Routine conundrum

I'm just wondering if anybody else feels pretty gross for almost a whole day after doing their bowel routine. Basically, I use magic bullets (every 2nd night), and I feel so gross afterward that I take Atavan so I can sleep. Wake up in the morning feeling flushed and clammy, and all stomache crampy. Feel that way most of the day (praying for bedtime), go to sleep, feel not too bad on day 2, then start the whole thing over that night. Aybosy else? Any suggestions?

    Thnks,
    Lynne

You shouldn't feel that way after a bowel program. If anything, I would think that you would feel better. How long does your program take? Have you tried anything else besides a mb? What do you eat? Is your diet full of fruits, vegetables and whole grains or is it a lot of junk food?

All of these things make up your program. Let us know what you do and then maybe we can help you change it so you don't feel gross afterwards.

My routine takes 1.5-2 hrs total. We insert bullet, wait 10 mins, get up on commode, wait 20, have to manually disimpact full rectum, wait 5, do it again, and so on, up to the 2 hr mark. I eat healthy enuf, but stool is soft, not at all hard. Just won't work all at one time. It is a really intrusive process, and very uncomfortable.

I was told to insert supp past 2nd sphincter, but on here it says to go much shallower. Not sure which is correct. Could it be possible we r placing it too high? If I try to up my fiber intake I absolutely die with stomache cramps, claminess, etc. I've had ultrasound which showed nothing but non benign cysts on one kidney (not sure if this is a bad thing or not). X-ray showed no constipation or impaction. I dread routine days! Any suggestions??

4 Wheeler, I feel better afterwards like CKF said is more likely.

What exactly do you not like?

I don't like the process, but once it's over.
Woohoo! 48 hrs of not thinking about it.

Congrats on the babies and being a Mom!

I guess I'm blessed fiber doesn't hurt me.
In fact I know I'm blessed by God,
    I don't hurt anywhere. I just can't move.

I use to go that high, but not any more.
If I knew more about your bowel program,
I'd be glad to help all I can.
I have mine working great now.

I'm sorry you're so bummed out.
I pray God will show you how to feel better.

WOW! too high! that's probably your problem right there. it should be only in your rectum, not up past the internal sphincter to your colon.

hopefully this will solve your problem...

    Maybe we'll try shallower.

Mona........what I hate is the discomfort. Unfortunately I'm not blessed with feeling great, but I'd really love to be! I also hate the intrusion on my evenings, but morning is not an option.....grrrrr!

Thanks, btw. Love my kids. They r my life

    manually disimpact full rectum

    Bare with me Lynne,
    I'm not sure I understand.
So you don't go on your own?
All your bowel movement is manually extracted?
If that's what that means, that would be very discomforting.
Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm trying to understand so I might help.

I totally understand invading your time,
    taking you away from family.
I'm older and live alone. So it's much easier for me.

One way I look at my care and time on it,
I'd really like to be doing something else.
I think of my care as my job.
I use to have to drive 30 miles back & forth to work.
Then work 8-10 hrs a day, 5-6 days a week.
Well my care takes lots less time than that.
So I'm at my home with "down time" lots more than I use to be.

I don't know if you work or not.
    But if you don't,
you get to be home with the kids more than if you did.

Just have to find a way to look at it, that gives you peace.

I'll keep trying to help you make the bm program easier.

It does sound as though you may be placing the suppository too high. Generally, you want to clean out the rectum, place the suppository in the rectum and ideally, within 20-30 minutes you should be empty. In between, you can try some dig stim.

Regarding your diet - too much fiber can cause all of the symptoms you described. Try adding a little at a time. I would also recommend that you make sure you are drinking enough fluids. And that if you can't tolerate the fiber, at least try to decrease the amount of constipating foods that you eat.

Mona's thoughts are good ones. I am sure it is not easy -
