    New windows on Mac

Okay, I just bought a Macbook a few weeks ago, but I need help with something. On my university's website, to compose an email, a new window has to pop up to write it in. On my Mac, the window won't come up. Nothing happens. Anyone know what settings to change to get the window to come up??

    Thanks in advance.

You may just have pop up blocked on your webbroswer.

Download Firefox, and you should get a notification by the top of your screen that says, FIrefox blocked a popup from your schoool website, and it has an option to say, allow pop ups from this website.

Close down firefox, reopen firefox and try the website again and you should be fine.

I thought about doing that. I've always been a Firefox user, but I was giving Safari a chance. Thanks Cor.

You can turn off the pop-up blocker on Safari, too. Click SAFARI > BLOCK POP-UP WINDOWS so that it's unchecked. That should do it. Should.

I also use the latest Netscape Navigator for Mac. I like it better than Firefox. But Firefox is a good browser.

    Cuz you're a Linux freak.

Just an aside: I've found the pop-up blocker usually doesn't apply to situations like this, and the window pops up as it's supposed to, because you're requesting it. But there are some Java applets and scripts that get blocked by pop-up blockers.

in safari if you use control click to open the window it'll open the pop-up & bypass the blocker b/c it sees it as a force open...unless safari has changed in Leopard...I admit to having not tried since I installed Leopard...but this is how I forced pop-up windows in Safari previously...
