America conned: Psycho pharma drug pushing empire under fire

In the "New York Review of Books" two-part article by Dr. Marcia Angell, Senior Lecturer at Harvard Medical School and former Editor in Chief of The New England Journal of Medicine, summarizes it extremely well. She analyzes three books by authors Irving Kirsch, Robert Whitaker, and Daniel Carlat. Each deconstructs the apparent mental illness epidemic and theory that mental disorders stem from brain chemical imbalances which can be corrected by drugs.

Whoa! This is appalling. My late big brother was bonafide bipolar. I can SMELL them. And there are a ridiculous number of kids being called bipolar now, that are mainly just in that adolescent fugue that I went through as well.

The school system basically forced me to put my kid on adderall. I was opposed but went to a seminar and he was textbook ADHD. I remember thinking about the boys I'd grown up with...you know, the hellraisers. They'd be called ADHD, at a minimum, in our society. Jake sure behaved better on adderall. Made the honor roll, etc.

But yeah, our entire medical system is corrupt.

Very interesting. Thanks for posting this.

Anyone out there have experience with Vitamin B supplements helping depression?

I knew someone who would get B12 shots for ADD and energy boost and have read over the years how Vitamin B's are essential for the neurological system to get adequate nutrients. Hmmm...
