How do you prevent kidney stones?

Over the years, I continue to get kidney stones. My diet is very good; I avoid soda, caffeine, sugar, alcohol, etc. I have also tried various herbs. Unfortunately, though, I have to go in for my third lithotripsy this coming January.
Any suggestions on preventing these kidney stones?

YOu seem to be doing all of the right things. What are your stones made up of? Different people, sci or not, make stones and they can contain different minerals. Knowing what they are made up of can help you to prevent them - sometimes.

Do you drink enough fluids? How do you manage your bladder? Do you get a lot of uti's?

I always should drink more water. I intermittent cath every 4 hours. If I drink more water (like I should), I would need to cath more frequently. Thankfully, though, I get very few UTI's (I credit this to Ambrotose).

I was at my urologist yesterday for a follow up CT scan and I have kidney stones again too, and I'm going in the next couple weeks to get them out urethroscopicly.

I do everything I'm supposed to and I drink so much water it's ridiculous, and I'm seeing a really good kidney stone specialist and we've tried lots of different things but they keep coming back.

Anyway I just wanted to say I feel your pain.

What are the causes and risks of the condition?
The following conditions are thought to increase the risk of bladder stones: benign prostatic hyperplasia, or enlargement of the prostate gland in men
    dehydration
having a urinary catheter, which is a tube used to drain urine or foreign objects in the bladder
    prostate cancer
certain salt or mineral imbalances and dietary problems
    urinary tract infection

What can be done to prevent the condition?
The best way to prevent bladder stones is to treat problems that cause blockage of urine flow out of the bladder promptly. Treatment for urinary tract infections and avoidance of dehydration may prevent some cases. Urinary catheters and other foreign objects should be removed, or at least changed often.

Anything you can do to make the urine flow properly.
Not back up. It needs to move quickly out of your body.

    That's all I could find.

    I have the same problem.
So I take probiotics, coloidial silver, & now uriquid acid.

    What's the verdict on dairy?

I stopped drinking milk and eating yogurt years ago. Am I now hearing that dairy can help prevent stones?

I don't believe there is anything in the literature that supports the thought that decreasing your dairy intake prevents kidney stones. They are a lot of causes (see above noted websites).
