i read somewhere that his hands were badly affected, cant remember which website but it made me think his injury was more central cord syndrome where you generally would recover function in your legs, and bladder control with residual disability in upper limbs

"Joe Waeckerle, a Chiefs team physician and expert in the field of emergency care, is a proponent of The Miami Project’s overall mission but is still skeptical about the specific hypothermia treatment.

“I’m not in any way in agreement in certain areas with what they said about Kevin Everett,” Waeckerle said. “There is no Class 1, or indisputable evidence, to support it. Before we use experimental treatments on people, we need to validate it through scientific study that undergoes rigorous scrutiny.

“That’s not to say it won’t necessarily work if it’s done properly after scientific research, but I’m reluctant to use it in anybody until I see some literature that says the benefits outweigh the risks. To attribute his recovery solely to hypothermia induced through cold saline is a mistake.”

“People ask, ‘When do you think you’ll find a cure? and I say, ‘Why don’t you ask Kevin Everett, because he’ll tell you we already have. ”
