    Urine output per day

    Hello SCI-Nurse,
We take liquid in so many forms. Here in India our food generally contains more water than yours, for we eat every thing that is boiled ( 100 degree), vegetable, rice, cury etc,. So please tell me, whether the information I remember once reading here that it is enough if a person makes 1.5 litres of urine a day, is true or not. I hardly drink 1.2 litres of water, the only liquid I drink, a day and make >1.5 litres of urine a day (24 hours). Is that OK?

We should be taught never to wait for inspiration to do things for us,
For action always generates inspiration, Inspiration seldom generates action.

1.5 liters is a normal output.
As you said, you may be getting more liquid through your food that isn't measureable. 2000ccs of fluid intake is the usual recommendation, not only for urine output but to make sure you have enough moisture for your other body organs- for sweating, respiration and gastrointestinal tract needs.
