For those who have not stood in many years...

Could you please tell me what your legs are like.

How long has it been since you stood?

    Are you complete or incomplete?

Do you have spasms, and if so, how intense are they?

How old were you when you were injured?

Do your legs look super skinny, or close to normal, or what?

If you've had a bone density test, what were the results?

    Have you had any fractures?

    edited to add:
Do you take any drugs (such as Fosamax) or do anything else to strengthen your bones?

    Thank you in advance!

If you've had a bone density test, what were the results? -4

Have you had any fractures? None that I'm aware of.

    Thank you in advance!

Thank you Smokey. 28 years and no fractures! That makes me feel a lot better.

Another question I should have asked is if you take any drugs (such as Fosamax) or do anything else to strengthen your bones?

How long has it been since you stood? Since I was 9.

Are you complete or incomplete? Incomplete

Do you have spasms, and if so, how intense are they? Yes, very light.

How old were you when you were injured? 6

Do your legs look super skinny, or close to normal, or what? My legs look normal. The only time they change is if I lose/gain weight.

If you've had a bone density test, what were the results?

Have you had any fractures? Just a slight crack in my foot. It was horribly black and blue and swollen. Went to an orthopedist. I just has a little crack in the bone. It was there he pointed out I had osteoporosis. I was depressed the rest of the day because I was "23 with an old woman's disease." LOL I still don't know how I hurt my foot.

    Legs look okay.

    20 years since last stand.

    Injured at 21 (1981.)

Haven't had a bone density test since 1983.

    No fractures.

    No drugs for bones.

Thanks for your answers Lindsay and Alan. I don't get it. Why do some of us have scrawny legs, and others have normal looking legs? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Shaun, I don't remember exactly how they did the bone density test. All I remember is that I laid on a table and they took X-rays. It didn't seem any different than regular X-rays to me, but there must have been something different. I'm thinking maybe the machine moved around my legs as it took lots of pictures. Anyway, it was fast, painless, and easy - unlike some of those other tests that involve injecting dye into veins and other crazy stuff like that. Ugh, I hate those kind.

Its called a DexaScan. Done on a table lying prone. The newer machines take less than 5 min to do an entire body scan. It actually took longer for me to get on and off it than the procedure lasted.

    DIGG.

I was on my back. Also, they only did my hips, I think. Definitely not my whole body. I suppose it varies for everyone.
