    Angry broke leg

I broke my leg 2yrs. ago when I fell in the shower onto my knees. They did nothing for it then and said it was just a crack in the femur well I noticed my leg starting to curve so I went and saw another specialist. It is still broke and all the way through. He said we could do surgery plates and screws but he is sending for others to look at. He does not want to do it in fear of infection, ect. and loosing the leg.

He said that the scar tissue is built up and they would need to clean all of that out so the bone could touch again. I have been using my braces for over a year thinking my leg was healed. I use them 3,4 times a week each 1hr.

What should I do, fix it or not???

No braces for a while. Wait for an ortho specialist to look at your x-rays. You most likely will need some metal work done. Nothing personal, but your post is not adding up, by the way.

I am not sure what you mean by the post "not adding up". It makes perfect sense to me.

No standing or walking right now. Get at least two opinions from good orthopedic surgeons, and talk with your physiatrist before having surgery. Intermedullary rods are preferable to plates and screws if that is an option, as screws and plates often pull out of place in osteoporotic bone.

Unfortunately without surgery, your failure to heal may become chronic. I would also ask about the use of an electrical bone stimulator after surgery to see if this could encourage better healing.

Sorry, I didn't mean to come across offensive. I just assumed that if there was a complete articulation between two ends of a broken femur it would be a little hard to bear weight on the leg. Especially not to notice something wrong within such a long period of time. But you are the nurse.
