Thread: Interview no-shows

    Interview no-shows

I honestly can't figure out what the hell my mom and I are doing wrong. We've been putting ads in the local paper, Washburn University, and the tech school where a lot of nursing/CNA classes are taken but we have yet to come up with one quality person.
We've had a recent streak of no-shows to interviews (I'd say 10 or 12) and quite frankly I'm starting to get pissed. Is this a common occurrence for everyone?
I can't even remember how many different formats we used for the ads... PCA wanted, CNA help wanted, etc...
    WTF?

    Awesome avatar first off!

It is not you. When we advertise for PCAs, I will set up sooo many interviews and maybe, MAYBE, if I'm really lucky, about 1 in 10 will actually show up. And I never interview in our home the first time, so I have to drive somewhere to meet them and then they don't show, which wastes at least an hour of my time. Multiply times 30-40 and I feel your pain too. The last time I advertised for a PCA, I got 200 emails/phone calls. No exaggeration, over 200. And of those, I chose to interview about 30-40 of them after phone screening them, and exactly THREE showed up total.

It's just the overall low paying nature of the job I think. But, it's not you. Well, either that or its you and me, and no one else.

I agree with Ami. It is a never ending process that comes with the territory. Don't lose hope, you'll find someone.

When I needed help I had the same peoblem. I would schedule a day or two to do nothing but meet with people after going through phone calls and directions and then wasting a day or so of my life because they didn't show.

After all the interviewing application filling out I have done to find my own job I can't imagine not showing up, or at lest calling with a damn good reason.

**off topic** zill judging by the avatars you and your twin sister (jbinnys ma) were seperated at birth **

Well what can you say jbin, I wouldn't want to take care of you either! You might try the escort section in the back of the college paper...get the care you deserve.

The morning shift is $9.50 an hour, while the evening is nine dollars even. We've had some really good help in the past but were trying to find someone to take me hours of one girl who's moving to Delaware. Most people even comment that we are able to pay a little bit more than most, but maybe it's not enough... I don't know

    jb,

Thanks for sharing. Hang in there and don't get desperate! I once went through an agency(for a morning shift only!) and they sent over Aunt Jemima, no kidding. She had little knowledge of ROM, going through Menapause, sweating profusely, had to redo her make up 3 times, no clue how to cath, and the agency charged me $23/hr! I'll never use an agency again!

I do have a girl who helps me out MWF, who is the freakin bomb! Wish I could find another one like her for TTh.
