Thread: 7+ hour bowel program

  1. #11
It is okay not to go everyday. Sometimes I will 3 days without going. Try eating a couple of apples if you feel your getting built up. If that doesn't do the trick by the next day, then maybe drink some green tea. That stuff works for me. Be careful with that stuff though. It's pretty powerful. It usually works in about 5 hours for me. I'm a T-8. My bowel program only takes me maybe 5 mins a day.

I would say try to get away from those meds and go for the natural stuff.

    Good luck

Hello seven hour Lady i am c4/5 mine used to take a couple of hours until my wife and I got smart sometimes we do it in the morning sometimes at night. I guess first off I should say I'm not on any medication. What we do is insert suppository in bed lay there and watch TV for about an hour and then my wife gets me up in a sling and we do it from in the sling. Takes about five minutes to get everything out with my body all pinched up in the sling. Took us three years to figure this out I hope this might be some advice for you.

If certain people see this thread, you're going to be severely criticized for being a T5 and having a caregiver.

If you read from the first thread (all the way through), you will gather that this situation is not a chosen one. IF you have any productive comment, trust, it would be greatly appreciated. I am a product of my physiology and the advice of my doctors. Sometimes, you have to think (like really think) before you speak. Thanks tho.

I'm going to try the natural way and see what happens. Thanks for the advice. I am still open to any suggestions that people with similar levels may have. This routine is killing me and it really robs me of my life.

You falsely assumed I didn't read the whole thread and its details. I realize you were on bedrest, but if you are a T5 that is now able to attend college again after your injury, you should not need assistance with your bowel program. If that was the advice from your doctors, it's time to find new ones.

You are right. That's why I posted the question. I am still looking for that answer. I am going to try the natural way. I have been taking 4 senna 11 hours before my time since my injury as per the advice of my rehab specialists. I have searched out other doctors and nurse practitioners, including gastroenterology specialists from Magee and Kessler among others, who have not been able to make any solid suggestions. I'm about 10 steps ahead of you, still searching for this solution. Do you have any actual advice or only criticism? This is the whole point that I am asking the question (because I am not okay with it). My body is not cooperating with what I want. I don't want to be dependent on someone nor do I want to spend over 7 hours going to the bathroom. It's pretty straightforward common sense. Furthermore, since crapping myself isn't really a viable option, what do you suggest?

People like you? Geez, be nice, it seems strange to me too but we're really not familiar with her situation so lets try to stay constructive. Leave the belittling to Fuente.

    ------------------------------------------

As far as being constructive I'm afraid I don't have much good advice. I don't really understand how a BP could take 7 hours, but I don't understand how someone could do it in 5 minutes either. I'm at about the hour mark. I have switched to doing it every other day, which has been a big improvement. I take senna in the morning, and then head to the bathroom at least an hour after dinner. Once I'm in the shower chair, I start off with a little digi stim, and then use half a magic bullet, which usually takes 5-15 minutes to get things going. About half an hour or so later I do a little more digi stim to make sure it's all clear, and if not I wait a little longer so I don't get any rude surprises later. I don't really understand what of significance has changed for you that makes the process so much more long and drawn out than it was before. But hang in there, there are some helpful and knowledgeable people here, you just have to ignore the other ones.
