    Did you try the interface?

    Sometimes 98 is a wank for wifi.

    Windows 98 isn't the best platform for WiFi. You would have much better luck if you went with Windows 2000. You are familiar with XP so you would have no problems getting around in 2000. Think about it.

    no win 2000. tryin to get out cheap with this freebie laptop, teyrn.

    been readin an tryin for days but won't connect. it recognizes linksys, lights on, full signal strengh but no connect.

    them $100 or so laptops on ebay are lookin mighty good, lol.

    Try turning off the the wep security, and connecting.

    Do you live in a populated area?

    i've already tried that PB. turned off firewall an all. oh yea.....not real populated, well.....not many ppl with internet if thats wat ya mean. think i'll reformat the win98 again an start fresh. i did custom install last time jus cause i wanted the games, which i'll probly never play with. think i'll try....recommended settings an see wat happens, bad as i hate to, lol.

    i'm sure i can git-r-done. finally got the router werkin. i've read bout plenty ppl have win98 wireless, it's just gonna be a ""PAIN"" in my arse.

    thank you bob clark fer sumthin i'm gettin plenty use of. .

    also, patonb.....my win98 compadre. ......

    Normal instal will do games

    SNAP!.

    Are you also using the proper key... there's ASCII (aka Words) and Hex (aka 7f830d0d4c) type pass.

    but if you're not connecting with no wep yha sometings up.

    Did you get the setup stuff going? aka the Belkin wifi interface.

    yea, i got the belkin interface but it don't have a way to change settings, check the key or anything. when i first installed it, it asked for the passphrase or either the hex. i used the passphrase but mighta screwed up sumwhere. weird it doesn't show any way to change or check your key on the belkin interface.

    Hehehe You? screwup? never!... I'll look into it abit more on the Belkin site.

    I know my netgear has both, but you need to check the right box.

    actually this 98se or the old 98 i have don't install the games on basic setup.

    when reformatting with the startup floppy. type...format c: /s. correct? or should i do it another way?

    Was just reading the how-to for your card... There is a box you need to check for the proper password form.
