    Hi Harry:

Currently there is no cure for the disease. Some ophthalmologists put their patients on 25000 IU of vitamin A palmitate per day and this has been shown in some clinical studies to slow down the preogression of the disease.

Do a search on the web... there is a retinitis pigmentosa foundation listed and they have alot of good information for you.

    Best regards,

    Sieg

There's no cure, but the resulting blindness is no reason not to go on with her life. Find local schools who teach the blind how to adapt, get her in there. She can learn to read braille and mobility with a cane and perhaps a seeing-eye dog.

Also, since this is a board for spinal cord injuries, you will probably find more help elsewere - check out this mailing list : http://groups.yahoo.com/group/RP-Friends/

    and this forum http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Eyecare/wwwboard.html
