Even before it officially opens Friday, Capital Health’s program to treat people hampered by severe muscle contractions has allowed Doug Buck to do something he could never do before — change his baby’s diapers.

When his son was born three years ago, Buck, 45, could not change him because of spasticity so severe he could not unclench his left hand.

Ever since Buck was burned when he fell into a pile of hot ashes at age six, his hand was immobilized as the muscles constantly contracted.
