    Tremor in my Hand

Yesterday I went to the dentist for a root canal job and I had a funny experience. He injected an anesthetic in my top left molar area and after I got up from the examining chair I started having tremors in my right hand. They went away after about twenty minutes and did not come back. Is this a common problem with anesthetics? Are you more likely to have this problem if you have a spinal cord injury? Never had tremors before.

    Hi Mike,

My body reacts the same way when I go to a dentist even if no anesthetic is used. Even my torso is trembling... Dentists just make me jumpy. As soon as I leave, everything settles down.

    Later,

Never had a problem with dentists in the past, even after my injury. Don't think this is a psychological reaction

    Lidocaine and Epinephrine

I (AB) shake like a leaf anytime I have dental anesthetic. My dentist told me it's common in dental practice to combine epinephrine with the anesthetic. Apparently it causes the blood vessels in the numbed area to constrict and so decreases bleeding. If you're sensitive to stimulants (i.e. caffeine), it may be the epinephrine causing the tremor.
