New 2017 Pressure Injury (Ulcer) staging standards

There is a new staging system, which includes the following:

    Suspected Deep Tissue Injury (DTI)
    Stage I pressure injury
    Stage II pressure injury
    Stage III pressure injury
    Stage IV pressure injury
Unable to stage pressure injury (due to being mostly or all covered by eschar or slough)

Also, the new terminology being rolled out has eliminated the terms "pressure ulcer", "pressure sore", "decubitus ulcer" or "bed sore" in favor of "pressure INJURY":

Just one of those quirky observations, but...The NPUAP or National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel who now recommends the use of Pressure Injuries rather than Pressure Sores, Pressure Ulcers, Decubitus Ulcers or Bed Sores, for now, maintains the name of National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel.

That aside, the website looks like a good resource.,

Yes, everyone has been joking about that for some time...The European and the Pan Pacific Pressure Ulcer Advisory Councils made this change too, and they haven't changed their name either.

Oh good. I was hoping you weren't thinking I was being snarky.
