Good news Brian had a telephone interview with a doctor from the Center for Medicare Services Innovation Center. Brian's adviser at Hopkins put him in contact with the doctor at CMS. This job is particularly applicable because the paper that Brian submitted for publication deals with exactly what they do at the CMS Innovation Center. In addition the doctor Brian talked to also graduated from the Hopkins Medical School so that doesn't hurt. During the Hopkins Graduation Ceremony last week the head of the Hopkins Alumni gave a short presentation. During his presentation he mentioned that Hopkins graduates should try to help other Hopkins graduates when possible. I hope the doctor from CMS heard the same presentation from the head of the Hopkins Alumni Association.

Brian has been invited to visit the CMS office in Baltimore to meet with the other members of the team.

Brian had the interview at the Medicare Services Innovation Center today. He thought that everything went well during the interview and in fact he knew one of the people on their team. They told Brian that they wanted whoever they hired to stay at least two years. Brian told them that at the moment he doesn't have a job and he hasn't applied for residency so he's considering all of his options. Personally I don't think that Brian should have even mentioned that he was looking at residency programs. He hasn't decided if he's going to apply for residency and if he did apply he doesn't know if he would be accepted. There are too many unknowns to discuss this with them. I hope that Brian's honest answer to the question doesn't disqualify him.
