Talking Leif, the Norskies are coming.....

Just heard on our local news that a Scandanavian Stem Cell (I think Norwegian)company is moving here to Madison, Wisconsin! To do ESC esearch! Now Madison has 3 Stem Cell research facilities, which can only attract more researchers. I was quite surprised and will look for more news since I was busy making supper when the news was on. Deb

Thanks a lot for telling. I am not aware of such things, but then again I don’t know everything that goes around over here. Still, my country is super small as for population so thereby a bit strange, cause I know about a couple of collaborations going on over the Atlantic but not in Wisconsin. It would have been very interesting to here more from you as for this. But like I have said before, good research will come from the US. But maybe it was Swedes, or other Scandies? Maybe not in fact, because Sweden allows ESC, not us, but I know for some time now many of our scientists has been to the US for some time, also worked there.

PS. I found this, is this what you referred too?

Edit: Not to much on Dag Dvergsten over here though, hmm? Will check with some researchers over here.

    Leif,
Yes, link #1 wins! There was more on the evening news and it was clear that this Norwegian company makes hard and software and the media for growth of stem cell research. And it was stated that there are now 4 research facilities here. Wisconsin was a popular destination for emigrants from Norway years ago, the town we went to high school at had the Vikings as their mascot and Jim was a Norwegian Dancer that is well known here. Syttende Mai is celebrated heartily with many resulting hangovers! So, now we'll have to stock up on the lefse for a new influx of Norwegians. The companies products are expected to be available in a few months. Govenor Doyle has worked hard to keep the research going and invited us to his inaugeration in January, where Taj Majal will be a featured performer. Deb
