Thread: The one movie that can always make you smile...

The one movie that can always make you smile...

For me, it would have to be Dazed and Confused.

The movie takes place the last day of school in 1976.

I was 4 years old and I had no worries except avoiding the neighborhood bully
and the occasional spanking. That year was the Bi-centennial and that meant a ton of free hot dogs and ice cream. It was always sunny and as I look back, the happiest, simpliest time of my life.

On the surface, the movie appears to be about 70's music and pot.
Upon closer inspection, it's about a time when towns were communities
in more than just name. People and families knew each other, and
rituals like freshman hazing were a pain in the ass (literally)
but served to unite. I hope you enjoy it. Sorry it's in bits and pieces.

Nice, when I saw the title of this thread Dazed and Confused was one of the first movies that popped into my head. Of course my all-time favorite movie Fight Club is the other top contender.

"How to lose a guy in 10 days" cracks me up every time. every time I kill a plant, boog goes on (rather dramatically) about me killing "the love fern."

Sorry (not!), but what I remember best about Dazed & Confused is thinking it best described the condition of the director must have been in.

Right, "There's Something About Mary", not only always makes me smile, but if I watch the director's commentary "Bonus" I can get to remember what a paradox it is that such an unprofessional* team of a-holes, the Farrelly brothers, can make some of the funniest films of the last decade. Scenes from that and "Me, Myself & Irene" just crack me up.

*They "employ" dozens of their friends and acquaintences for the support and "extras" roles and then "pay" them with mention in the commentaries. They also plug the music they use in their flicks and we can presume that they get breaks on the rights to use these as the title holders know the game.
