    a great pic of the two of ya'll. Shannon. I really get a kick outta watching my kids grow up. And, yeah, the teenager is getting to be a handful at times. Still a good kid overall.

    My son is 19, he'll be in February. So THEN it will be all better, RIGHT? I did get a lot of fun, 3 years of attitude, some alcohol & drugs thrown in to spice things up (though not as bad as it could have been), a major car accident and a return to some attitude (oddly, I welcomed that after 6 months of total dependence ). Hmm, I seem to be over that phase now, and am back to plotting my escape to Club Med.

    Just a little more, then I'm done... for a while.

    Parent/teacher conferences were last night, and due to her very high test scores, her teacher wants to nominate her for TAG (talented and gifted).

    Using the following:
    + = consistently demonstrates
    V = often demonstrates
    C = close to benchmark
    N = Not yet meeting benchmark

    She got all +'s in everything, including
    gets along with others
    on task behavior
    does not disturb others
    respects adults
    completes work

    And all E's in overall reading, writing, and math.
    E = exceeds benchmark
    M = meets benchmark
    C = close to meeting benchmark
    N = not yet meeeting benchmark

    Also, she used to be terribly shy. Now she raises her hand in class and she gives reports to the class in a loud and confident voice.

    Yeah, yeah, I might be singing a different song in 5 years. I need to brag about her while I can!

    Shannon that is wonderful...... Sounds like she likes the books!!! My daughter hates to read and doesnt learn well with book teaching. She is a hands on kind of person. She is very smart but just is not well at learning from a book.

    Encourage her and "toot your horn"......she deserves it!!!

    Yes Daisy, she does love books. She always has. When she was toddler, she was always bringing me a book to read to her.

    What makes me happiest about her conference is that she isn't so shy anymore. I didn't get over my shyness until I was in my 20s.
