Thread: Bond............

An acquaintance of mine was an astronaut (although he never got to fly). In the theater watching the Bond flick with the space shuttles, he yelled out "Where's the fuel tanks?"
The film shows a shuttle lifting off, but the fuel tanks on its side are notably absent!

OMG, OMG; your buddy noticed a lack of verisimilitude in a Bond flick. Would that be anything like the sequence in GoldenEye where Brosnan/Bond commandeers a Russian tank and, after chasing his quarry to an armoured train, manages (miles down the track) to arrive at a tunnel mouth before the train; this in spite of the fact that most trains are notably faster than tanks and the train had the advantage of running on its tracks while Tank-Bond presumably had to take whatever zigzag course was available to arrive at the fateful tunnel!

Connery is THE Bond. Roger Moore was weak, his Bond was a joke.

    Shocking, ain't it?
But those are the things that make them funny.

Isn't it? We could make up a whole thread of stuff like this. Like the scene from the beginning of GoldenEye where Brosnan/Bond, while hanging upsidedown, knocks out a Russian soldier in a toilet stall with a short punch, thus curcumventing the physical reality that he'd have no way to get more than a fraction of his strength into the blow in that position.

Or the one a bit further along where he rides a motorcycle off a cliff after an unmaned single engine plane and, after air-swimming for a few thousand feet of the drop, glides deftly into the open door of the craft, just in time to start the plane nosing upward to skin the canyon floor with perhaps a hundred feet to spare.

    Or the time....ad infinitum. LOL.
