    Cancer and cathing

Are males with SCI that use either internal or external cathing more prone to prostate of testicular cancer?

My husband is a oncologist who specializes in GU cancers (prostate, bladder, kidney, teste, penile) and I asked him specifically and he says it does not increase prostate or testicular cancer, but stones and frequent irritation from infections can cause bladder cancer. This risk is much lower if you do not have bladder stones and you keep infections to a minium.

You better wise LOL thats his area

He mentioned a succession of women with SCI with indwelling catheters lately and said if I run into people with bladder cancer who have SCIs to suggest they consider getting treatment in the GU center at MD Anderson in Texas. Just passing it on.
